STAR TREK: Voyager

I was skeptical at the beggining of Voyager, and I missed DS9 (I watched it after watching all of DS9). I knew there were less aliens, and I thought it was going to be a lame attempt to make Trek more modern (which was actually Enterprise). When I got to late season 2/early 3, I was a huge fan. I was really into Voyager, and was afraid that the absence of Kes and the new character Seven would mess up the chemistry. Well, I do feel that the show changed for the worse after season 3, but I don't blame Seven, because I did like her. I did miss Kes of course, but Seven was a good character, though she unfortunately represented the producers attempt to draw in a more mainstream crowd. The characters got a bit "one note" and weren't fleshed out as well, Janeway became a bit... insane and the plots got kind of ridiculous. I also wasn't too fond of the finale, or a number of changes in season 7. That being said, I went back and watched some of the early stuff and appreciated it all the more.


Favorite Character(s) Pre-season 4: Neelix & Kes. After season 4: Doctor & Paris. I loved the relationship between Neelix and Kes because though they were quite different, I thought their relationship was quite believable. I liked Kes's gentleness and genuine caring attitude, I had a special place for her, she seemed so sweet. Early on, Neelix had a sort of fiery personality and would be indignant and stubborn at times, but I liked him like that because he was still cute and we could see his gentler side through his relationship with Kes. Of course, Kes left the show, and after season 3, Neelix became a less interesting character as they tempered out his personality way too much and made him far too optimistic and accepting. The Doctor and Paris, however, were developed really well all throughout the series. I wasn't sure how much I would like Paris but after a while he really grew on me. The Doctor was always a great idea, but he started to get really interesting after the first few seasons, especially after he got his holo-emitter.
