RECENTLY READ BOOKS

Here is a list of books that I have recently finished, in order of most recent at the top.

Cancer Schmancer Spring '10 - This is the follow up book to the other Fran Drescher book I had read, mostly discussing her life during her bout with cancer. So far, it is moving and entertaining, and has a very light but honest sense about it which I appreciate.

The Nest Newlywed Guide Winter '09 - I just started this guide but I think he has some good "real world" advice about normal issues that newlyweds face when combining their lives. ... This guide was a very good read and I will probably use it as reference in the future. The guides regarding the budget and improtant document one needs once they start their married life.

Tales from the Crypt: Volume II Winter '09 - I absolutely loved this comic book! It was a lot of fun to read and I used to sit in the bedroom and be consumed by it. It's not as scary or twisted as the TV show, but it definitely has it's on appeal and charm. I definitely want to make a habit of collecting these!!

Complete Robot - Isaac Asimov Winter '09 - This book was a more complicated version of I, Robot. The logic was great and I was more impressed by the stories. There's not much to say that this one other than my favorite stories so far are in this compilation. My favorite stories are: True Love, Victory Unintentional, Light Verse, Segregationist, Mirror Image, The Tercentenary Incident, Bicentennial Man

Enter Whining - Fran Drescher Fall '09 - I really enjoyed this book because it was 'real' and it was funny. I really love Fran on The Nanny and was intrigued by the fact that I usually don't like characters like her. But I felt that she was real and her personality offers no apologies and I appreciate that. The book was a fun read. A bit all over the place, but there was good humor and it's always interesting to peek into someone's life that you find interesting. I ordered her other book which is like a sequel where she talks about her cancer and divorce from her long time husband. That will probably be a sadder book I imagine.

I, Robot - Isaac Asimov Fall '09 - I really enjoyed these short stories; this was my first Asimov book. I love how each story is a nice short logical treat. Most of them had me trying to figure out how they would conclude and I enjoyed juggling the logic in my brain. I've always loved AI and knew I'd really like these books. I can't wait to start one of his full story novels! My favorite stories were: Liar, Little Lost Robot, Evidence

All 6 Harry Potter Books - J.K. Rowling Summer-Fall '09 - I reread all of the Harry Potter books! I could have made an entry for each book but I chose to just chose to mark it as one entry. This was actually my third reading of Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix (I had first reread those two before Half-blood Prince came out) I aboslutely adore everything Harry Potter and think it's a wonderful accessible series and completely enjoyable. Love the characters, love the stories. My favorite of the series is Order of the Phoenix because I was sooo engaged in that book, I flew through the last half even though I've read it twice before this. I can't really add to anything the critics have said, but to put it short I am a fan of every incarnation of the series, including the films. I'd love my future children to read these books as well!

Coraline - Neil Gaiman Spring '09 - This book was short and sweet. I absolutely fell in love with the film Coraline so I decided to read the book. It was cute but not as endearing as the film. I wish I had instead bought the graphic novel. I have to give it credit however for paving the way for the amazing film.
